"A culture is only as great as its dreams, and its dreams are dreamed by artists." ~ L. Ron Hubbard |

The life of a cowboy means having to deal with the elements and being prepared for what Mother Nature might throw at you next. Austin likes to keep an eye on the sky and plan his day accordingly, making sure it's a good time for a lunch break, a siesta, or a roll in the hay. This cowboy does not like getting caught with his pants down.
Painting a cowboy-themed piece is always a special treat for me. I really get caught up in rendering rustic elements like weathered wood, old barns, worn denim, etc. Plus, cowboys are hot.

Oh my god Michael. This is one hell of a hot piece of artwork. I already have 7 of your pieces and there are a few more that I plan to get. This one has now trumped that list. This one is the next one I am going to purchase. This one is going to go nicely with my "Waiting out the rain" that I have.Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at 09:51 AM

I just ordered Austin. I myself love cowboys. This guy is incredibly hot. I love the fact that he is only wearing black underwear and a black cowboy hat. I think you can't improve on your work yet you come up with these truly wonderful men. Where do you find your inspirations? I was in Provincetown last week and I was talking with the owner of the Lyman-Eyer gallery and he told me you rarely use models. I find it fascinating that you create these hot guys without models. Keep them coming. You are a truly talented artist. I am hoping to be in PTown for your opening.Sunday, July 8, 2012 at 06:32 PM

Thanks Eddie. I find inspiration all over the place. Now that I've been doing it so long my mind and eye is trained to think 'is this something that could become a painting?'. As for the figures, it's much the same way. I'll use parts of images I find to compose a figure, take the parts I like as my inspiration. A chest here, a face there, eyes from yet another source and base the figure on all the best parts :-) This, along with knowledge of anatomy and all my experience painting figures, allows me to create an original figure but also make it seem fairly realistic. Hope to see you at the exhibit!Sunday, July 8, 2012 at 06:52 PM

Bonjour Michael Je viens de vous découvrir...Quelle chance ! Je suis ébloui par la finesse de votre travail, par la beauté de vos mecs, par ces virilités absolues et pourtant au fond par leur fragilité attendrissante. Merci et à bientôtWednesday, July 11, 2012 at 10:19 AM

What's really striking about this handsome cowboy with great musculature -- almost like a tiger about to spring -- is the intensity of his powder blue eyes, just slight brighter than the sky reflected back in the pane of glass to his right.Thursday, August 30, 2012 at 09:30 PM |
