As with numerous other species, are human males the more beautiful of the two sexes? Are men peacocks? Most societies celebrate the aesthetics of the female form over that of the male, so why is it women who wear makeup and perform a myriad of other rituals just to look prettier? If men did the same, would they be considered equally as beautiful? Or perhaps they don't because it simply isn't necessary.

This piece, the first in my series of Natural Beauties, won the 2009 Erotic Signature art contest in the Fine Art category.

Wow, Michael!! Thank you so much for creating Beau! I am a licensed Manicurist and I happen to LOVE wearing nail polish! Beau is so completely and totally cool... it's just too bad we can't see what color he's using on his toes! Keep up the GREAT work Michael! You are an inspiration to me!

I'm not sure. I will say, my son likes to paint his toe nails. He is...6. lol He uses clear and paints his finger nails too. Because he likes it. Personally...if it makes you feel beautiful...I think you should go for it. Who cares what others say. I think men - at least to me - would be considered equally as beautiful if they got dolled up. :) If an individual feels beautiful...I think that shows. Make up or no make up. Male or female. :)

If you look closely you can see blue polish coating the applicator. I'm a bit traditional, boys should wear blue toenail polish. :-)

I love this one Michael! Beau's eyes are intense with concentration and his fingers and toes are so detailed! I'm also a sucker for that warm background. Very well done Mr. Breyette!

It's a shame that current ideas of masculinity still disparage the art of making one's self up to feel more beautiful, especially since history is riddled with powerful men in make-up. But as long as artists like you continue to challenge the public ideal with work like this, there's always hope. This, especially. The contrast of his rugged features with the delicacy of the polish only heightens its effectiveness in my opinion.

I love the painting as all of the artwork completed by you. To me this shows so much more than just painting your toenails. I shows a total understanding and acceptance of your true self. Quite peaceful. Michael

You can tell by the eyes that he is secure enough in his masculinity and feels comfortable enough to paint his toenails without caring what other people will think. Beauty comes from the inside.
