"Ninety eight percent of the adults in this country are decent, hardworking, honest Americans. It's the other lousy two percent that get all the publicity. But then, we elected them." ~ Lily Tomlin |

No screeching alarm clock. No rush hour traffic. No deadlines. No expectations or obligations. At this moment there is only peace, warmth, and tranquility, a time to treasure as a day of endless possibilities lies ahead. It's a contemplative moment just between me and my morning sun.
Imagine starting off every day as if you were on vacation, taking a moment just for yourself, easing into your morning with no hectic rushing around. The world would be a much more relaxed and kinder place.

As beautiful as this work certainly is, for me, being originally from the gulf coast of Florida and having a deep affection for New Orleans, I can't help but see the scenery as something of a metaphor for what we, as 21st century humans, are destined to lose if we keep up our collective foolishness. Gorgeous as usual Michael. Thanks.Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at 12:34 AM

When I was working on it I thought the same thing, he was looking like Mr. Holloway...but their isn't a damn thing wrong with that! I am surprised that you're the first person to make that comment to me Max.Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at 08:52 PM

In the morning when I wake up and look at the original of this great piece hanging above my bed, it reminds me of one of my favorite places, Provincetown and the peace, joy and fun I have during my vacation time there. Thanks for a wonderful work of art!Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at 08:26 AM

I have loved this piece since the moment I first saw it. For me, "My Morning Sun" is about freedom and love of self. About being fearless and self confidant. And maybe, just maybe, for the first time. This man steps out into the light, unafraid of showing who he is in every way. Knowing that he is a part of all that there is around him. He is a part of the beauty and the grandeur of life and nature. He is looking out at the new day, the last of the storm clouds are being swept away. There is nothing stopping him from being all that he can be. He needs never listen to anyone say anything contrary to that thought. This is his day, and no matter what has gone before, he has only the highest hopes for his life and the sure knowledge that the futureis his, ready to be claimed. He is the captain of his destiny.Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at 10:08 AM

This is an incredible likeness of my past boyfriend! It reminds me of the morning of the last day of our vacation! I watched from the window as he soaked in the morning sun & amazing view. While enjoying his coffee. I could spend hours just watching him as I remembered the night before. Touching & caressing his body as I gave him his massage before bed! Never knowing it would be the last night and last morning I would have with him. That afternoon he went for a ride on his Harley motorcycle. A horrifying accident as a drunk driver hit him head on killing him instantly. Michael you are one of my favorite artists ever! I have many prints and original works of yours. Maybe I can save enough to buy a print in the near future? I just wanted to thank you! "My Morning Sun" Brought back some wonderful memories for me! You are the greatest artist!Thursday, July 12, 2012 at 01:41 AM

Having coffee from a ceramic cup is quintessentially civilized, the fruit of LOTS of kinds of labor in the global economy. Paradoxically, it's interdependence w/ each other that can make us all more free! Natural, but not primitive.Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at 04:08 PM

Inspirational. This reminds me of what I dream to achieve in life. To have a home on the Georgia coast where I can wake up every morning and listen the waves crash on the beach as I watch the sun rise. It's beautiful.Sunday, July 22, 2012 at 05:42 AM

What I love most about this piece (besides the hot guy of course) is the sense of movement. While the subject (who I imagine is having a contemplative moment) is still, the details in the landscape convey motion, the rippling of the grass, the clouds moving across the morning sky. Though I enjoy all your work, I'm usually drawn to pieces that feature skies. Theres something about how you render light using different shades of blue that I find simple, elegant and beautiful.Thursday, July 26, 2012 at 12:30 PM

The sun is not the only thing that rises with this glorious piece of art. The serenity, even with the clouds roiling in the background, is evident. It's like he is remembering the wonders he experienced the night before as he awaits his lover to join him at the railing. This is more than a work of art. Its a story we all can either relate to or dream about as we insert ourselves into your world. I am the lover behind the sliding glass door, watching, smiling...waiting for the right moment to join the man I love. Thanks so much for this piece.Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at 10:04 AM
