It often starts as some playful teasing, a harmless struggle over who gets the most covers. Sometimes it's a frisky battle over who's on top and who's on bottom. However it gets started, there are few activities that combine physical aggression and laughter like a good ole pillow fight. And those are the two best things for relieving any hints of tension or frustration. The combatants end up surrendering to exhaustion admist a flurry of downy feathers.

After my last piece I really needed to do something joyful and lighter. What's lighter than a feather and more joyful than two hot naked men in bed?

The playfulness in this piece -- especially as it shows on the handsome faces is a delight, much in the spirit of Oopsy Daisy. But this work is bolder --the guys are (literally) butt naked and we get a nice look at each, one fore and one aft. The expression their faces indicates that this is but a brief pause in the action. Like the warm reddish brown tones of the bodies and the room. The feathers remind one of those snow shakers and this seems to give a three dimensional look the piece, especially the feather at top right nearest the viewer.

I think this is one of my favorites ... love the face, love the tan line, love the playfulness. Some day, when I'm rich and famous, I'll own one of your works! Question - do you use models? or do you just paint from your creative mind? Wondering what that part of the process is.

Steven D, Most of my figures are a combination of multiple references, adaptation and creative effect. I don't work from a single specific model but rather create my own from various references. I make a sort of blueprint to work from, piecing various body parts from various sources together. The blueprint allows me to work out position, proportion and perspective, it's a road map. I also study other images for lighting and color, or perhaps elements like wet clothing, that guide me. Working on the actual piece is where I bring it all together, (basic anatomy knowledge helps here). This is where the expressions come to life, gaps are filled in, changes are made and it evolves into the eventual final piece.

The great thing about a NAKED pillow fight is that, as that shower of delicate feathers trickle through the air, they tickle you in those extra sensitive places!!

What a great work! I love the expression on the faces and the whole scenery! Even Mother Holda would be proud!!! Mother Hulda is a German fairy tale. When it is snowing, it sais "Hulda is making her bed" - so she shakes her bed and out comes snow from heaven. It is not known, that she has a son though, but this is how I could imagine him playing around!

This is truly an amazing piece. After thoroughly going over this, in fine detail...their faces, bodies, covers, etc; it reminds me of 2 lovers or longtime boyfriends, that are so secure in their relationship, love & time together, they can share their boyish charms their want to be with each other in every way possible..that any caution is thrown to the wind. They allow themselves to easily change from child like playfulness to being an amazing couple both sexually soulfully.

When men become boys...I love the contrast of the masculinity and the playfullness. The two guys obviously love each other and are comfortable in their own skins revert to their childhood memories of sleepovers and pillow fights, but this time without their pyjamas. You get the feeling that after expending all that sexual energy they will spend the rest of the day cuddling into the small hours, and maybe they'll have a little energy left for another tumble amongst the feathers......... ;)

This pic reminds me of those overnighters in my late teens with the football players where its time for bed and both guys are just really anxious and curious. Pillow fights and wrestling would begin, exictement would always grow and end with two "manchilds" follwing their insticts

I absolutely adore this print for a few reasons. But my number one reason is for the playfulness of it. Not a critic here by all means but I do notice your work has such a concentrated serious nature. This print, along with others like Oopsy Daisy, 21, Santa Daddy, Toy Maker and a few others allows us to see the "softer side of Michael Breyette" and I really like that. I LOVE the effect of the freathers getting larger and making me feel like I am standing there with them watching and the feathers are flying toward me. Thank you for showing your whimisical side, Michael.

I love this piece! The fun that they're both having roughhousing is exuberant and the detail of the the man on the left biting his lip in anticipation and sensuality is a great touch of mischief! Really, it makes me want to join in ;)

A soft mattress and silky sheets plus downy pillows embrace the warm naked flesh of two lovers. They let their aggressive instincts take control of their minds and surrender to the need to have fun with their lithesome bodies. The electrical tension between their poised frames suggests the erotic energy of orgasm that will happen when they complete their foray into spontaneous joy. Who says two males cannot have a dynamic polarity between them? This painting makes it visible as daylight!

I see a frisky lightheartedness in these two good friends that is going to transition to laughter and then to a compassionate long love making session. Starting with a pillow fight is the ice breaker to what will be their first of many intimate moments together.

What can be more sexy than grown men, and handsome men at that, become playful as children. It is great to be able to leave the complex, troublesome world of adulthood behind, if just for a little while and relive childhood. It seems to come by these beautiful men naturally, all in the name of love.

This reminds me of times my partner and I had ages ago. Pillow fights, sometimes followed by lovemaking, sometimes followed by just laughing until we fell into each others arms. We let our inner child free. The pure joy we had can be seen in the one man's smile. "Take that" with a *thwap*. Sometimes pictures like this almost make me weep, because we have no real pictures of those times. Ah, the joy of discovery...well, I know what we're doing tonight.

I love how playful this piece is. It's as though all their cares have floated away like the feathers. The thing I like the most, though, apart from the fantastic smiles, is how the two men look identical. What you can see of the face of the one with his back to the viewer looks like a mirror of the first. It's like he's helping himself let go and have fun.

Feathers and Men! I can't think of a better combination. The playfulness in this piece is simply brilliant, from the detail of the abs, to the roses in the background, you simply continue to amaze me, and I find myself just waiting for the next piece to be unveiled each month! Keep the feathers flowing......

I wish I could see the original piece, Michael, to see the pastel strokes and how you built up the image... the layering, the blending, the extra detailing (like the chair, the furniture, the window-frame, *and* that closest feather *beautiful*) And the way you brought out the overall atmosphere of the piece: it's winter and snowing outside... the sun is up but it's probably late morning (a Sunday? 10am?) and the men are only just up after a late night out - they're warm and feeling playful and energetic - they're in love with each other and in love with life - and it's time to have some playful fun! :-) And you've really brought out the fun, Michael... The feathers flying, the suppressed excitement between the two, the quick pause before the next round in the pillow "war" :-) I love the guy on the left, he's barely biting his lower lip... What's he thinking? Maybe something along these lines??? "Let's see if I win this time - John's sleepier than me, let's see if I can catch him... with 'this one!!!!'" ??? And there's a bit of seductiveness there too, in his expression... The other guy (John) now is used to winning - so he's not going down without a fight - and you can see him gearing up for the challenge... And being naked makes it, far from being too much, actually very natural and innocent I can just see these guys having fun on that winter's morning... I know the piece is sold and I'm saying congrats to the lucky folk who have it and hoping they're enjoying it as much as it seems so many are (look at all the comments on the page!) Good work, Michael, and keep it going... Love your talent and creativity...

Mr. Breyett, I have to say that since being introduced to your art work I am hooked. I love your technique and style and how you come up with the name of the art. Pillow Fight is just another amazing painting by you, it is as if you captured what many of have done at some time hitting each other with pillows leading up to that special moment. There is not much that can be said other than I love your work and this painting is Wow! Amazing. Thank You for another great painting.

This reminds me of the childlike innocence love can have when one truly loves and cherishes the one they're with. Look at the love depicted on the guys face as he looks at the other and is not only thinking of his next mive with the pillow but also the many moves they will make throughout their lives together.

This is such a great piece. It reminds me of Necessary Roughness. It just makes me smile and wish I was playing with them. It looks like its a snow day and the boy in the man comes out.
