 Shore Leave |
While working on my latest piece I realized that what I had come up with was somehow familiar. My mind put the pieces together and I did a bit of searching until I found it. Fellow artist Joe Phillips, who does wonderful comic or 'toon style work, has a piece with two sailors in a similar pose, though they are not tattooing each other. I messaged Joe with my dilemma, and wanted to know if he was okay with it. He graciously said, "no problem, great minds think alike" and that he was looking forward to seeing the finished piece. So in honor of him, I have dubbed my sailors in Shore Leave, Joe and Phillip.

Illustrated Men
 |
The book of short stories based on my paintings is moving along. I am willing to admit that a story I submitted anonymously made the cut. Only after they decided to include it did I fess up and tell them I penned it. The new editor just showed me his revision of it and it's really got me excited that this project may actually come to fruition!

 Poster Boy |
Equality for all! Why is that such a difficult concept for some to understand? Perhaps for some it's simple ignorance. For others maybe it threatens their perceieved right to treat others as inferior. But if we are all citizens, shouldn't we all have the same rights?
While the original is available for purchase, it will remain with the Lyman-Eyer Gallery through the end of my show this July. Limited edition Gallery and Studio prints are also available at the Special First Day Price through Midnight ET tomorrow.

When I had just about given up on the 1000 words project it looks like it may come to life afterall. A new editor is working on it now and I have been given a tentative release date. The 1000 words project is a collection of short stories inspired by my artwork, written by published authors and fans alike.

 Masterpieces |
With my latest work I thought it would be interesting to ponder the duality of masterpieces. Throughout history there have been countless magnificent works created by talented artisans, but they are still only replicas, tributes to the flawless physiques that inspired them.
Masterpieces will be a part of my upcoming show in Provincetown, MA this summer. If you are interested in purchasing the original, please contact the Lyman-Eyer Gallery. Limited edition Gallery and Studio prints are available for purchase at the Special First Day Price through Midnight ET tomorrow.

Change in Shipping Prices
 |
The US Postal Service recently raised rates on packages. They've also eliminated the flat fee for a 1 pound priority package so the cost is now based on distance too. So I've
had to restructure my fees and methods for shipping. In some cases, such as orders consisting of just a few prints, I'll be shipping via First Class mail rather than Priority.
This may add one extra day to the ship-time, but will lower the shipping charge.

 Looking to Score |
The winning title for my Name My Art contest is Looking to Score, submitted first by Jay W. from Phoenix Arizona. Jay will be receiving a signed limited edition studio print of the work.
I want to thank everyone who participated and sent in great suggestions. Unfortunately I can only pick one. But I must say, you guys came up with some clever ways of putting balls into the title!

My latest work needs a name, so I'm having a Name My Art Contest! Enter as many names as you would like. I'll then sift through all the entries anonymously and pick a winner who will receive a limited edition studio print of the work. In the case of multiple people suggesting the same winning name the winner will be the person whose email arrived first (and is spelled correctly so type carefully). The deadline for entries is Midnight on Saturday, January 16th, 2010. I will announce the winning name on Tuesday, January 19th, 2010.
Enter the contest! The contest is over. The winner will be announced on Tuesday, January 19th.

While the original and prints are immediately available for purchase, no orders containing this work will ship until after the contest ends. Also, the original is a part of my new show next summer and cannot be delivered until after my exhibit ends on July 22, 2010.
The Special First Day Price ends Midnight ET tomorrow.

Fellow artist Paul Richmond is doing a new series of his Cheesecake Boys, this time featuring real folks, and has asked me to be one of his muses. The paintings which will also feature the likenesses of Darryl Stephens, Jesse Archer, Perez Hilton, Mike Ruiz and others will debut at Paul's upcoming show in Chicago.
