Archipelago (2005)
23½x18½ Pastel on Pastel Paper
Original is Sold

Soft white sand, crystal clear water, and the sun beaming warmth into the very depths of your muscles; that is the kind of paradise you will find in an Archipelago.

My artwork has always been greatly influenced by my environment. So, I was not surprised that as soon as the weather turned cool, I started thinking of tropical settings for my next work. My initial concept was of a scuba diver emerging from the sea. But I eventually simplified things by stripping away all but the goggles and orienting the work horizontally to showcase the tranquil seascape.
