Beautiful as a dandelion blossom, golden in the green grass, this life can be. — Edna St. Vincent Millay
There’s a sweet, quiet sort of nostalgia that comes with a lazy Summer afternoon outdoors. For this piece, I wanted to capture that completely relaxed, easygoing mood between two guys sharing a private moment in the park.
The hardest part to get right was the background. I had to balance the rough texture of the tree bark against the soft, grassy field behind them, making sure those elements felt detailed without pulling attention away from the figures themselves. I spent a lot of time working on the skin tones to make sure the warmth of the day felt real, keeping the overall look soft, hazy, and peaceful.
