Standing before the imposing figure, the young man’s eyes widened in awe as he traced the chiseled lines and perfect proportions of the ancient statue, its marble skin glowing within the museum’s hallowed halls. His own athletic physique seemed to draw inspiration from the masterpiece, as if the grandeur of the classical nude had awakened a deep appreciation for the perfection of the human form.
As I have mentioned before, working with pastels can be challenging when working on small figures. By making the background blurred it released me from those tiny details, but then created another challenge of making a blur look like what it’s intended to be. In the end, the blurred background enhanced the focus of the foreground figures. And ripped jeans are always fun to do.
