Religion in art can be controversial, but mixing it with sex is a whole different beast. Did I mention it's gay sex? And a threesome? Between a Jew, a Christian, and a Muslim? Oh boy.
The few people who saw this piece as I was working on it told me that it might ruffle some feathers, but art is allowed to do that, right? Working in pastel against a moody, deep red backdrop, my main focus was balancing the provocative nature of the theme with genuine closeness. I wanted to weave the symbols of their faiths into a shared, highly personal moment that ultimately connects this Holy Trinity through desire rather than division.
