Traveling abroad is an amazing journey, but the most memorable experiences happen when you put your phone away and simply ask a local.
While cathedrals are impressive, I find the timeless, warm textures of old residential streets where people continue to live deeply compelling. For Lust in Translation, my main objective was to contrast the modern details of the traveling backpacker against this historic architecture. Working with pastel, I focused heavily on capturing the strong directional sunlight breaking through the alleyway, casting intricate shadows on the cobblestones and illuminating the local guide’s rich skin tones.
