I am not a religious person, which is why I resisted doing an angel painting for many years. That changed after hearing devastating news of public violence and executions targeting gay people around the world, carried out in the name of God. Rapture was born out of a desire to see those perverted acts of hatred fiercely answered. The piece envisions a dramatic intervention where angels break their sacred edict to descend like birds of prey, stopping an atrocity before it is too late. In this central composition, a powerful, white-haired angel cradles a bruised and bloodied youth, lifting him away to safety as his massive wings span across a vast, barren landscape. It is a deeply emotional, protective statement against prejudice, capturing a moment where divine justice finally steps in to save the vulnerable.
