A long day of chores on the dusty prairie under the afternoon sun makes it hard for a cowboy to keep his mind from drifting.
I will be the first to admit that I know very little about buying wine, to the point that I often make a purchase based on how much I like the label. While this method of selection has yielded mixed results, it makes a potentially stressful decision more fun. It was while label shopping a few weeks ago that I came across the inspiration for my latest work, Red Truck. The label is based on a painting owned by Fred and Nancy Cline, the founders of Cline Cellars. It just appealed to me so much with its bright blue sky, and the shiny red farm truck echoed in the red foil covering the cork. And I am happy to note that I was very pleased with what I found inside the bottle, with its subtle flavors of dark berries, licorice, and chocolate.
