With Slide, I decided it was simply time to have some pure, unadulterated fun. This piece is all about capturing that exhilarating, high-energy rush of adrenaline when you throw your hands in the air, surrender to gravity, and crash through the water with a massive smile on your face.
Bringing the dynamic motion to life in pastels was a thrilling technical challenge. The entire composition relies on the bold, sweeping curve of the bright pink water slide, which provides a striking, high-contrast frame against the subject's sun-warmed skin and wet metallic blue Swimwear. I used soft, blended strokes to build the rushing, churned-up white water and splashing foam spraying up around him, giving the scene a tangible sense of speed and refreshing, sun-drenched excitement.
