Tom has that classic, clean-cut, all-American look, with a great athletic body and a friendly, charming face. Drawing this piece was actually the moment I decided to commit to my Men in Briefs series, making him number two in the collection. I don't usually try to make the faces in my drawings look like an actual person, as I am not really trying to capture a specific likeness. But as I was working on his features, he began to remind me so much of Tom Cruise that it inspired the title of the piece. While I eventually decided to make a few changes to give him his own distinct look, the name stuck.
