Every inch of you is packed with greatness waiting to be discovered. — Unknown
Meet Yannick, the next addition to my Mini Figurative series. There is a great, relaxed charm to his pose that immediately caught my eye. Standing completely naked and looking right out at you, he has this subtle, knowing expression on his face that feels completely unforced and genuine.
As I’ve progressed through this series, my intent has always been to seek out interesting, dynamic poses rather than standard, static studio setups. For this piece, the focus of my creative process was all about capturing the subtle asymmetry of his posture. He’s standing with his shoulders slightly squared while his core shifts, creating a nice, organic alignment through his torso. To bring that out against the solid, warm ochre paper, I worked with deep, heavy darks to feather in the depth along his abs and obliques, contrasting them with crisp white highlights to catch the crest of his chest, the curve of his forearm, and the close-cropped texture of his hair and beard.
