Being one of my first pastels, I knew the suds were going to be a challenge. But they turned out to be a lot of fun as well. Discovering their complexity… the highlights, shadows, shapes, opaqueness and translucency. It’s made doing wet figures almost a treat.
Cotton, the first in my series of Men in Briefs, came to life long before I decided on doing an actual series. I was captivated by the expresson and good looks of the model. He was the first complete face I did, not hidden by shades or headless altogether. It was with this peice that I started getting comments about the photo-realistic quality of my works.
