Ah that first day at the beach. The hot sand, the fresh ocean spray, the sea-scented breezes, and all the time in the world. You head out mid morning with your beach chairs and cooler, on that hot and a bit longer-than-you-think trek to the escape you had been longing for since the leaves first started turning orange.

I had been in the mood to draw a 'day at the beach' piece to herald the start of summer. When considering settings, it didn't take me long to decide on one. For me, Herring Cove Beach in gay friendly Provincetown Massachusetts was the ideal choice, and about as perfect a place to spend a summer day as I can imagine. When there, you feel as if you are at the tip of civilization, and the edge of nature's glory. And there is no place else you would rather be.
