The Pick Up (2014)
24×18¼ Pastel on Pastel Paper
Original is Sold

Ever since moving back to town, John had wanted to hang out with Patrick alone, hoping their distance was just a mutual attraction neither was bold enough to act upon. This weekend, he felt bold and stopped by to ask for help with yard work, planning The Pick Up over a cold six-pack afterward. He was thrilled when Patrick accepted with a devilish sparkle in his eye.

Interestingly, this is my second blue truck this year. I wonder if my subconscious is trying to tell me something! In pastel, I loved leaning into this rustic narrative, arranging them naked on a plaid blanket in the truck bed alongside beers and an old gas can, backed by dense woods.
