After Hours (2004)
14½×15 Pastel on Pastel Paper
Original is Sold

After a long day of hard work, dropping your jeans and diving into something refreshing is exactly what the doctor ordered.

I had originally decided to keep this piece simple, focusing almost entirely on a heavily muscled back. No thought of a background setting had even occurred to me until a friend pitched a few ideas, ranging from a bedroom doorway to a stripper at a party. Ultimately, I decided on a nearly deserted hotel pool After Hours. Capturing the rippling water and its shimmering reflection on the ceiling was an absolute blast to render. The setting perfectly sets the stage for a late-night skinny dip, proving that boring business trips do not have to be all bad.
