The weather demands it, the mind craves it, and sometimes you just have to take matters into your own hands and play a little hooky. Whether it is a carefully planned escape or a spur-of-the-moment decision, you grab your water, a towel, and your essentials to head off for a Beach Day.
A few years back, I painted Snow Day, focusing on the unexpected treat of staying cozy indoors when winter weather calls the shots. With this piece, I wanted to explore when the Summer weather is simply too beautiful to ignore, and you call the shots by taking a day off.
