Fountain of Youth (2011)
24¼×18½ Pastel on Pastel Paper

The desire to retain youth is nothing new. Long before Ponce de León’s 1513 expedition, myths told of a magical fountain with rejuvenating powers. Today, we turn to lasers and injections, but the real answer lies in finding harmony with nature and treating life as an adventure rather than a race to be won. If you rush through it, you miss the magic and just end up exhausted.

With Fountain of Youth, I wanted to capture that restorative state of mind. Immersed in the serenity of a hidden oasis, a handsome, mature silver-haired man relaxes in the cool, clear water. Surrounded by lush greenery, lily pads, and wildlife, the scene celebrates the simple joy of letting nature rejuvenate both body and mind.
