A photographic portrait does more than just capture the person out front; it reveals a great deal about the creative soul operating behind the lens. When celebrity photographer Mike Ruiz approached me about collaborating on a promotional portrait, I jumped at the opportunity. Mike has photographed icons like Dolly Parton and Tyra Banks, but as a former model himself, he is also incredibly natural in front of the camera. To bridge his dual legacy as both the photographer and the subject, I drew inspiration from Marilyn Monroe’s legendary nude photoshoot with a sheer scarf. Posing elegantly with a rich red fabric draped over his muscular, shirtless physique, Mike looks out with an intense, knowing gaze. Capturing his striking features and the vibrant, flowing texture of the fabric against the deep background made this cross-artistic tribute a true pleasure to create.
