Farmhand (2009)
18½×23½ Pastel on Pastel Paper
Original is Sold

There is a timeless, rustic fantasy about taking a private break from a hard day of labor out in the fields. With Farmhand, I wanted to capture a stolen, highly intimate moment out in the old barn. Sheltered by the worn wooden slats while the sun beats down on the fields outside, he finds a little time to indulge his own desires. He stands completely relaxed, shirt pulled up and jeans down around his hips, engrossed in a magazine as he treats himself to a well-earned, private release. Balancing the rich, rustic wood grain of the barn walls against the bright, open sky and the distant red tractor was a fantastic exercise in texture and depth, providing the perfect hidden backdrop for this erotic scene.
