Grooming rituals have always been a fascinating reflection of identity, yet society often draws a strict line regarding who gets to participate in them. This is the second piece in my Natural Beauties series, which explores handsome, masculine men engaging in daily routines that are typically designated as feminine. As he gazes into a handheld mirror, Max applies a vibrant stroke of red lipstick with complete confidence and poise. Working out the perspective of his large hand holding the compact mirror right up in the foreground against the cool blue backdrop was an intricate puzzle to solve, but it perfectly frames the quiet intensity of the moment.
