In a city that never sleeps, the teeming chaos ensures that for a chivalrous few, there is Never a Dark Night.
While my Halloween and Christmas pieces let me indulge in my fantasy interests, those holidays only roll around once a year, so I love to break out similar themes every once in a while. This piece, alongside Kansas, is my personal take on the superhero genre.
Working in pastel, I wanted to capture the quiet, contemplative moment before a vigilante takes on the evening. I focused on the striking juxtaposition of his raw, muscular, and completely nude form against the sleek, neon-trimmed tactical suit resting in the foreground. The floor-to-ceiling windows look out over a sprawling, glowing metropolis, catching the moody reflections of a city that relies on its nocturnal protectors.
