St. Luke's Summer (2018)
23¾x18 Pastel on Pastel Paper
Original is Not Available

Defying the calendar and the fact that you’ve already packed away your shorts and sandals, St. Luke’s Summer will have you peeling off the layers against the golden hues of Autumn. Also known as an Indian Summer, it’s that short stretch of warm, Summer-like weather that unexpectedly returns in the Fall. It gets its unique name because it traditionally occurs around St. Luke's Day on October 18th.

Working in pastel, I wanted to capture the blissful feeling of catching one last burst of unseasonable heat before the Winter sets in. I focused on the vibrant, warm light washing over a wide-open country field, highlighting the chiseled, shirtless physique of a handsome man in tight blue jeans as he takes a relaxed break against the polished fender of a classic vintage Car.
