Rio (2003)
22×28 Pastel on Pastel Paper
Original is Sold

There is an undeniable allure to Brazilian men, and Rio captures that flawless charm with his dark hair and sultry gaze. When starting a new piece, deciding on the color of the paper can be a challenge. For this one, I decided to take a risk and go with a bold, vibrant background, and I absolutely love how it anchors the piece. The palm fronds in the background were actually an afterthought, added later to create a bit of contrast against the warmth of the composition.
