This painting was directly inspired by my very first trip to Paris, where I stayed at a small hotel in the vibrant Marais district. The view of the window in the background is actually the exact view from my hotel room, located just a short walk away from Rue des Mauvais Garçons, which translates to Street of the Naughty Boys. I wanted to capture a moment of pure, consuming intimacy where the two subjects are so entirely lost in each other that the rest of the world completely fades away.
