Water has always been a fundamental element in my artwork, but with Still Waters, I wanted to capture the specific, quiet magic of a misty mountain morning. Inspired by the serene lakes of the Adirondacks near where I grew up, this piece explores a moment of pure, refreshing solitude. Emerging from a revitalizing dip, he wades through the calm shallows, trailed by a soft wake as his hand grazes the water's surface. Developing the technique for the dense, fog-covered pine forests and the low mist resting over the shoreline was a rewarding new challenge. It provided the perfect, moody backdrop to contrast against the rich, wet textures of his powerful physique, capturing a profound sense of personal rejuvenation.
