Making sure your equipment is in top shape, sowing the seeds, being attentive, and some cooperation from nature are important if you want to successfully reap the bounty of The Growing Season.
Sure, being stuck behind a tractor when you’re driving can sometimes be inconvenient, but I find living here in Vermont, completely surrounded by farmland, to be incredibly inspiring. Working in pastel, I wanted to capture the rugged, rustic charm of country life mixed with a healthy dose of flirtatious, everyday realism. I focused heavily on the textures of the Outdoor setting, from the parched grass of the field to the massive, weathered tread of the tractor tire. The composition plays on an intimate partnership, highlighting the powerful, muscular back of a shirtless farmhand kneeling with a wrench, while his companion looks down with a knowing smile, clad in a tight red t-shirt, Jeans, and a classic green mesh tractor hat.
