Thirst (2013)
18½×23¾ Pastel on Pastel Paper
Original is Sold

It is a natural craving, an animal instinct, and a driving force that can cause you to disregard all else until you are satisfied. Whether it takes a tall glass of water, an ice-cold beer, or perhaps a big, muscled, hairy bear of a man. Whatever the craving, you have to quench your Thirst.

Since I’ve been putting my fantasies to paper for so long, it's natural to find correlations to older pieces. With his hairy chest, big uncut physique, and that intense look on his face, it feels like this figure could be Jorge nearly 10 years later, and still looking mighty fine! Working in pastel, the main challenge was playing his warm skin tones and dense body hair against the striking, solid red background. I loved focusing on the textures of the wood floor grains and the bunched-up white fabric of his t-shirt behind his neck, creating a high-contrast scene that is entirely focused on pure masculine desire.
