Many of us are drawn to water. We find peace in the sound of its trickle or gentle lapping waves. We want to live near it or vacation by it. We enjoy a long soak in the bathtub or the cascading pulse of a shower. We even install pools in our backyards to float and frolic in, creating our own private oasis.
I love getting the subjects of my paintings wet, capturing the glistening skin, the reflection of light, and swelling droplets of water clinging to bodies. I had never really attempted to paint a body in water before Wet Dream. I thought it would be a huge challenge showing the distortion caused by water and the way it bends and bounces light, but it was a lot of fun and not nearly as difficult as I feared.
