I think I had just been to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC before I began Anton... my mind filled with the perfect men of Grecian statues. As with all my graytone works, I wanted to make sure that the figure did not look like a statue, especially since you cannot see his eyes. To bring the subject to life, it takes glistening skin, hair and the right amount of contrast.
