Carl's Diner
Carl's Diner (2014)
18¼x24 Pastel on Pastel Paper
Original is Sold
At Carl's Diner there’s always freshly squeezed OJ, rich hot coffee, crispy home fries, and a seasonal selection of homemade pies. But the number one allure of the counter are the hot truckers who stop in and plant their butts on a stool, giving anyone in the opposite booth a fantastic view to go along with their breakfast.
I’ve recently been frequenting a few local diners for breakfast and brunch; the food is damn good, and I love supporting local businesses. That routine, combined with a few hunky patrons, completely inspired this pastel piece. My creative focus was rendering that classic retro atmosphere, capturing the checkered tiles, the chrome counter stool, and the tight fit of Levi's jeans paired with a jockstrap waistline.
