This piece is a bit of a rarity for me, since I usually work on one drawing from start to finish. I actually began it last year, but between preparing for the summer show and my kidney stone operation, it kept getting put aside. I just didn't feel much like painting snow in July! I'm thrilled to have finally finished Christmas Time in the City. Working in pastel, my goal was to capture that cozy, festive urban glow, using the warm light streaming from the café window and streetlamp to illuminate the two handsome men as they carry their holiday packages down a snow-dusted brick sidewalk.
