Much of the school day can be tedious and boring, because not everyone finds every class interesting and engaging. But if you are lucky, there will be at least 40 minutes you look forward to each day where you get to study your Favorite Subject.
I think most of us had at least one teacher that sparked our “imagination.” Working in pastel, I wanted to capture the ultimate, cinematic schoolroom daydream, leaning into a classic and highly relatable fantasy. I focused on the realistic details of a vintage classroom setting, from the large chalkboard covered in math equations to the classic wooden student desk. The composition plays on a quiet, charged atmosphere, contrasting a young student day-dreaming at his desk with a handsome, muscular male teacher in a button-down shirt who has paused mid-lesson, sparking a completely different kind of study.
