Once In A Lullaby (2010)

The Wizard of Oz has long held a cherished, foundational place in queer history. With Once in a Lullaby, I wanted to imagine how the film's message of belonging might have resonated with a gay couple during its original 1939 release. Leaving the theater deeply moved by the spectacle and songs, these two sharply dressed men throw caution to the wind, sharing a tender kiss on the public street. In an era when their love was forced to remain hidden in the shadows, they close their eyes and wish for a future where they can live and love freely.
