Times Square

Times Square (2004)
14½x22½ Pastel on Pastel Paper
Original is Sold

For the longest time, I concentrated almost exclusively on the subjects in my drawings, all but ignoring the setting or background. But as I have grown as an artist, the backgrounds have become more intricate and complex. I was a little intimidated at first by the chaotic lights, yellow cabs, and towering billboards required for Times Square, but those elements ended up being the most fun parts to draw. This piece actually launched a new series featuring a couple visiting famous destinations around the world.
