New Release: "Last One In"

The saga of the red truck continues.  Based on my 2007 painting "Red Truck", this new piece revisits our cowboys taking a little break from the heat and chores for a little wet fun!

This work was commissioned by the owner of the first Red Truck painting, and therefore the original is already sold.  I gave a nod to the red truck in "Night On the Town" as well.

Get 10% off the list price during the official Day of Issue on prints.  Now until approximately 8:00 AM EST January 27, 2015.

On the Drawing Board: Feeling fantastical

Many of my early pieces (teenage years) were sci-fi and fantasy inspired, so I always feel my artistic roots are slightly anchored in that genre.  Lately, as I've been contemplating my next works I've kept drifting in that direction, so I've decided to indulge.  I've done a few in the past, like "Metamorphosis" and "Deep Blue", and definitely would like to explore further.  I'm starting with one of my favorite mythological creatures, gryphons, of which I've been a fan of since reading about the land of Valdemar in the Mercedes Lackey books.

New Greeting Cards!

I've added five new greeting cards, and just in time for Valentine's Day it turns out.  Check out the whole selection.  Also there are a few cards that I only have a handful left and since I need the room they are on clearance for $2 each.

Public Exhibit at Stonewall Museum

Stroke: From Under the Mattress to the Museum Wall exhibit which showed last Spring in New York City at the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Gay and Lesbian Art is opening in Fort Lauderdale this February.

I will have one piece, Kiss Me Senator, in this pared down version of the exhibit which is a historical retrospective of works by artists who appeared in gay male magazines from the 1950s through the 2000s.

The exhibit runs from February 3 to March 8 with a public reception held on February 6 at 7-9 PM at Stonewall Museum – Wilton Manors Gallery 2157 Wilton Drive, Wilton Manors FL.

On the drawing board: the return of the red truck

This piece is a commissioned piece by the person who purchased "Red Truck" several years ago.  I've gotten further along and the pivotal red truck makes its appearance, connecting the two pieces.

On the Drawing Board: Sunshine on his shoulders.

I've finally gotten back to actual artwork.  I am enjoying this commission.  I love the concept (cowboys at a swimming hole) and hope the client will love it too!

By the way, I need to get my 'real' camera out for better quality in progress pics than what I take with my phone.  May that's my New Year resolution. :-)

On the Drawing Board: Cowboy Commission

My new project is a commissioned piece.  A client who bought the original "Red Truck" wants a sequel, a companion piece of sorts, also featuring the same old red pick up truck.

The "Red Truck" painting was inspired by a wine bottle label.  A bottle of Red Truck Wine also appears in my piece "Night on the Town".
