New Release - Sweat, Pant

While I've done many pieces with a sports or locker room theme, it's been a long time since I've featured someone in an actual gym. I find a lot of eroticism in a man working out. There of course is the physical aspect, muscles bulging and relaxing. But I think the dedication and determination of working ones body, as with any endeavor, has a compelling appeal.

The original was sold to friends who expressed interest even before it was finished.

New Release - Holy Trinity

Religion in art can sometimes be controversial. Throw in sex and it's a whole different beast. Did I mention it's gay sex? And it's a threesome? Between a Jew, a Christian and Muslim? Oh boy. The few people who saw this piece as I was working on it told me that it might ruffle some feathers, but art is allowed to do that, right?

Note: The original has been sold to a private collector.

New Release - Rudolph & Nickolaus

I let my imagination loose for this years Christmas painting, posing a slightly different origin story for these two icons of the Season. What was St. Nick like when he was younger, before he became 'Santa Claus'? And what if he and Rudolph had a lifelong bond and a long history together? I was really enthused to render my version of Rudolph, a more realistic look versus the familiar clay-mation one and also to do my interpretation of Santa/Nickolaus as a young buck himself.

On the Drawing Board: the art of the workout

While I paint muscular fit guys, I don't usually do ones that are really 'jacked'.  I did more physiques like this back when I used to do sci-fi and fantasy style pieces.

Anyway, since for many guys especially gay guys gym and working out is a big part of life.  And though I've done a few locker room themed paintings, until now I haven't really done one specifically about working out.

New Release - Bathed in Love

My latest piece is also the first work in my upcoming exhibit (more on that below). While the original is available now for purchase through Lyman-Eyer Gallery, it must remain with the gallery until after my 2014 Summer show.

UPDATE: This original is now available at Gallery XO in Wilton Manors Florida

On the Drawing Board: triple play

While this is only a portion of the full piece, the painting will only be of the guys from the chest up.  I thought of showing more, but opted for the intimacy that focusing on the faces and the embraces provides. Plus I'm in the mood to work on larger faces.  Heck the last piece I did didn't have any face unless you count a jack-o-lantern.

New Release - Pumpkin Head: The Legend of Creepy Swallows

I spent a lot of time deciding what I was going to paint for Halloween this year. I had several concepts rolling around in my head: spiders, ghosts, the legend of Sleepy Hollow. But I didn't know what to do with my vague snippets of inspiration. With October just around the corner, I decided to go with one of my biggest fears - SPIDERS! - and started a new piece.

Of course it was only after I put pastel to paper that the Pumpkin Head concept finally gelled, but I knew that it was to be my Hallowe'en painting, so I nixed the other one and got busy on this one.

New Release - Tie the Knot

It almost feels like a cosmic alignment. My latest piece celebrates a sexy beginning to Summer as well as a playful twist on gay marriage, and it turned out that the first full week of Summer saw the Supreme Court grant federal recognition of same-sex marriages by overturning DOMA while their action on Prop 8 resumed same-sex marriages in California. Happy Summer!
