On the Drawing Board: taking it easy

Usually I am a one work at a time kinda guy.  I try not to plan too far ahead, because I've discovered that if I sketch out an idea, and I can't start painting it right away I lose interests, especially if I do a painting or two in between.  However, when life gives you lemons (in the form of the flu) you gotta make lemonade (or hot tea with lemon).   Since I haven't been up to working with dusty pastels, I've worked on multiple outlines instead.

Here are snippets of two.  Will both become full fledged paintings...time will tell.

New Release: "In His Hands"

I went to school and became a massage therapist so I could quit the Postal Service and supplement my art career.  Though I never professional practiced, I did fall in love with massage, getting and giving.  I don't know why it took me so long to work massage into a piece!  To get the 'spiritual' connection of massage I used the placement of the candle glow and branches, a nod to religious iconography.

*NEW* Clearance Closet

In the Closet you'll find prints that may have been framed for display, for a show, or perhaps I had hanging in my home.  They aren't brand new and may have minor flaws, and I will do my best to point that out in the descriptions.

These are first come first serve basis and I'll be adding more as I dig through my closet.

Framing is Back

Framing is finally coming back!

If you like the convenience of hanging and displaying the print you've ordered as soon as it arrives, or you're hesitant to bring  your print to your neighborhood frame shop, you have the option of me framing it for you.

Currently only a few items can be ordered framed but over the next few months I'll be rolling it out to more and more.

Right now I am limiting framing to the popular Studio size prints.  The mat/frame combinations that best compliment each individual artwork will be pre-selected.

New Fantasy Release: "The Gryphon Master"

Harkening back to my roots, my latest piece is an adventure in fantasy!  Gryphons are one of my favorite mythological creatures and it was so much fun creating this piece.

Original and Prints

On the Drawing Board: Winter tale.

Being in the second snowiest city in America (so far this year) has been a bit of an inspiration for my winter themed fantasy piece.  But I am ready for the snow to start melting...but I guess I'll have to wait at least another month.  Either way I am having so much fun rendering things I don't typically do in my usual male romance / erotica pieces, though I consider both 'fantasy' works.

New Release: "Last One In"

The saga of the red truck continues.  Based on my 2007 painting "Red Truck", this new piece revisits our cowboys taking a little break from the heat and chores for a little wet fun!

This work was commissioned by the owner of the first Red Truck painting, and therefore the original is already sold.  I gave a nod to the red truck in "Night On the Town" as well.

On the Drawing Board: Feeling fantastical

Many of my early pieces (teenage years) were sci-fi and fantasy inspired, so I always feel my artistic roots are slightly anchored in that genre.  Lately, as I've been contemplating my next works I've kept drifting in that direction, so I've decided to indulge.  I've done a few in the past, like "Metamorphosis" and "Deep Blue", and definitely would like to explore further.  I'm starting with one of my favorite mythological creatures, gryphons, of which I've been a fan of since reading about the land of Valdemar in the Mercedes Lackey books.
